What do road conditions and your nose have to do with each other?

Happy Birthday My Sister!

We woke with the brilliant orange of dawn and set off early. A trip of 350km on paved road is very different to one through the dirt roads of the outback. They varied from a carpet ride of soft sand over clay to terrible rocks and corrugations. When we asked the guy at the Walnaaring shop what the Hungerford Road was like he suggested Max not pick his nose for the first 35km!

(By the way, this same bloke had his Mum visiting from Manly in Brisbane and she is friends of a lady I taught with many years ago!)

... and at Hungerford we were back in Queensland at last, after 2 years and 4 months

Brilliant clouds in impossibly blue skies guided our way to Kilcowerra. 51/2 hours later and here we sit beside the lagoon with the singing honeyeater for company. Time to clean the bull dust out that had leaked in through the very shitty Easy Traveller Door (NEVER buy one).

The last time we were here was on our first trip with a van and that was nearly 12 years ago. We always measure sunsets by the one we saw at Thargomindah on that trip. Tonights rivalled that… Spectacular.
