We pulled into Lara Wetlands today and there are 65 vans that I can see circling the lake! We have spoken to more people this afternoon than we have in the last 6 months! They assure us that it is this busy everywhere! OMG we haven't booked a thing. It is a great opportunity to figure just where we should go next listening to all the series and tips people are only too happy to share.
Our drive began with two brolgas saying hello to us, continued along very well maintained and little used road between Adavale and Blackall, mostly dirt through outback properties. It is amazing to see the change in scenery over the past few days, from gibber plains to rocky farmland and now black soil and lush grasses with sheep and cattle looking so healthy. Water is lying in ponds beside the roads or still remains in usually dry creek beds. We saw another Southern Cross 5th wheeler like ours and stopped say hi to Bob and Bev.
We have a fab spot right on the waters edge, a bird photographers dream ... guess I won't be moving much tomorrow.

We were told about there but chose to stay at Dunblane Westbourne shearing shed just out of Barcaldine. Picked up a mouse from there and had fun trying to move him out of our house!!
The Winton Dinosaur Experience just out of town is marvellous and we also enjoyed the Waltzing Matilda centre. Stayed out at the Long Waterhole.
Thanks Erin. Lots of vans left and we really enjoyed our time there meeting some great people. We have come to Aramaic now to do the sculpture trail and then o to Hughenden and Porcupine Gorge. Xx
