The Silence is Gold

I know that seems a pretty funny title considering how much Max and I like to chat but ... at last we are in a space where no other man-made sounds can be heard. You don't realise how much noise there is in the world, even in quiet places, until you are in a place that is so remote that the silence is deafening. I think the large granite boulders and hills surrounding us add to the quality of utter peace.

The dirt road from White Cliffs was a bit rough but improved as roadworks have repaired the water damage of the past few months. Amazing landscapes once again, with this purple hued range dominating the horizon for a long stretch.   We stopped for a look at Malparinka, just a pub now and a few ruins of a once thriving town. A credit to a few local people and volunteers from all over Aus who care enough to preserve its memory.

So here we sit under the canopy of the Milky Way listening to the stars twinkling away. We plan to stay here, near Tibooburra in the Sturt National Park, for a few more days.

Any wildlife out that way? Looks like camel/goanna country.

It's a wonder you get any reception out there.
